CONTAINMENT 2.0 Containment is a realist strategy whereby one power scrambles to put limits on the global outreach and influence of the other power. This can be done through multiple ways and methods. Strategy of containment became extremely popular during the Cold War (1947-1991) between the US and the then USSR, whereby the US adopted multiple means to contain the spread of communism. The US built its nuclear and non nuclear arsenal; formed alliances with the European and non European nations; financed, equipped and trained proxies in many states fighting against the communist governments; provided assistance to capitalist governments fighting against communist insurgents; and put forth huge financial aid packages to win allies and strengthen the states in its anti communist bloc.
